Can't rewatch an airing/unfinished show

As title states, rewatch is only possible under a watched state, if you wait for episodes to return you can't reset the watch progress without the show completing. If I mark an airing show as watched up to the latest episode, it changes status to waiting and still not possible to rewatch.
