10-star ratings without half-steps

I’m a simple guy: I used Trakt’s ten-heart scale for over 13 years, and that’s just how I think about ratings now.

WeTrakr offers a ten-point scale with half-steps, and a five-point scale with half-steps. Could we get a ten-point scale with no half-steps?

Yes I know this is the opposite of what I saw others ask for recently, granularity down to tenths (.1). I can keep using the current ten-point scale and just never use any of the .5 ratings, but that leaves me more open to mistakes than I’d like. It’d be helpful if the system could be set to enforce a whole-number rating when I rate things.

This is available now. I didn't catch which update added it, but that's OK. I'm happy to have my 10 stars without half-steps!

The problem is that for this to be effective, everyone needs to use the same grading scale.

If many people want a system accurate to 0.01 and others want whole numbers, maybe the right compromise is actually to stick with half-point grades.

Unfortunately, it’s hard to please everyone…

I also find it easier to use whole numbers for voting, but I’ll adapt 😅

I would argue that there are already two different rating scales, a 10-point (5 stars, or “Simplified”) and a 20-point (10 stars).

Basically, I’m asking for the option to use the existing 10-point scale but visually show all 10 possible scores as stars, instead of hiding half of them as half-stars. I think this is a UI customization request, rather than asking for a whole new rating scale.

The other folks asking for more granular scores scare me, lol. I’ve never seen a use for more than 10 increments myself; some sites have 100-point ratings which is just totally overwhelming 😅
