For me and the things I watch, at least, the bar graph–style display of playing/watched/planning/dropped counts is not very useful. It's dominated by “Watched" for items that have already been out for at least a bit, and by "Planning” for things not released yet.
If there already is a display preference to hide those bars above the tracking buttons, I haven't been able to find it.
The counts are still useful information, but I'd rather see them near where the ratings show up below the title. Tracking buttons IMO should be action elements only; displaying information in that widget feels cluttered.
