It would be useful to introduce a Recent Searches feature, allowing users to quickly return to films or TV shows (or other items) they have previously searched for without needing to type the title again.
The feature could include:
A list of the user’s most recent searches.
The ability to remove individual items.
A Clear All option.
An optional expanded view for accessing a longer search history, rather than only showing the last few items.
This would be particularly helpful when a user searches for a title but does not immediately add it to their watchlist or mark it as watched. A recent search history would make it easier to return to that title later and continue where they left off.
Every search represents some level of interest or intention. Even when no further action is taken at the time, retaining recent searches provides a useful reminder and removes the need for users to remember the exact title and search for it again.
This could work alongside the existing Trending Searches feature rather than replacing it. For example, recent searches could appear above the trending section, with trending searches moved slightly further down. Based on the current layout, there appears to be enough space to display a small number of recent searches without making the interface feel crowded.

Reddit’s search interface is a good example of how recent and trending searches can be presented together in a clean and intuitive way. I have attached a short video showing Reddit’s current implementation as a reference.
