TMDB and their original movie title policy

TMDB has recently made the incredibly fun decision to only and exclusively list the original release titles of movies as their main/primary title.

This means that a movie like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is now listed as Warriors of the Wind, and Star Wars' 4th instalment is now only called The Empire Strikes Back (which these days is more commonly known as Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back).

I was glad to see that WeTrakr's search at least includes the alternate titles in its search criteria (unlike the TMDB site itself, where searching for Nausicaa or Star Wars does not return these movies at all), which is the most important issue.

But I can imagine users would prefer to see the "commonly known" or "popular" title for a movie. For Nausicaa it's especially egregious as almost nobody would know it under its original US release name, which is also a different edit altogether.

This is a niche issue and TMDB might change their mind on this ridiculous policy, so I would consider this a very low priority issue, but something to eventually look into nonetheless.
